Baltimore — On behalf of Provident’s 2200 employees, Group Manager Russ Johnson presented the Red Cross with a check, in the amount of $67,225, to aid in relief efforts meant to assist those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Bank employees overwhelmingly answered the call to give and serve, and the company matched employee contributions to support the ongoing effort to provide needed resources to those trying to rebuild their lives and communities.
Under the direction of its executive management team, Provident Bank agreed to match employee contributions to the American Red Cross, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. As employees continued to give generously, they were able to raise more than $37,000. Additionally, Provident had committed $5,000 to the American Red Cross as Johnson, Group Manager of Operations, serves as an active Board Member of the Central Maryland chapter.
"The outpouring of concern here at Provident has been tremendous and truly reflects our core values of ‘caring’ and ‘partnership’," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Geisel. "We know that our employees have a spirit of giving and we are proud that they demonstrated the ‘Provident Way’ when it was needed most."
As employees are still actively donating to a variety of causes and supporting area volunteer projects in association with relief efforts, Provident Bank’s Human Resources team and its volunteer service arm, the Provident Volunteer Corps, continue to work together to help with ongoing efforts to rebuild.
