(410) 277-8250 Baltimore, November 24, 2004 — Provident Bank announces the promotion of John D. Murphy, Jr. to District Manager II of its Baltimore East District. Murphy is a Vice President within the bank’s Community Banking Division.Murphy joined Provident in September 1997 when he was hired as the Branch Manager of the Gaithersburg office. With more than 18 years of bank management experience, his new role will be to manage and lead the bank’s Baltimore East District. Prior to joining Provident, Murphy managed Crestar Bank in Chevy Chase, MD. He was also previously employed as an assistant manager of the former First Union Bank in Bethesda, MD and Carteret Savings Bank in Bernardsville, NJ. "I will focus on continuing to build Provident’s reputation as the right-size bank," said Murphy. "I’m equally excited about meeting the financial needs of our consumers in the Baltimore market. Murphy is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey. A Northern, NJ native, he currently resides in Silver Spring, MD.
