PROVIDENT BANK'S VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR HONORED AT WHITE HOUSE

Baltimore, November 22, 2004 — Provident Bank Assistant Vice President Cheryl Yuille was recently honored by the White House for her commitment to volunteerism and service during a recognition reception held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in Baltimore.

Yuille, a Small Business Underwriter with Provident, was presented with the President’s Call to Service Award by Desiree Thompson Sayle, the Deputy Assistant to the President and the Director of the USA Freedom Corps. The Award, created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, is given as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. Yuille also received a commemorative pin for her efforts.

The special award was presented during the 2004 Salute & Recruit Volunteer Recognition Reception where both Yuille and

Rahn Barnes, both bankers within Provident’s  Community Banking Division, were on hand to be honored as Co-Recruiters of the Year for Operation HOPE—a national non-profit organization seeking to bring economic self-sufficiency and a sustained spirit of revitalization to America's inner city communities.

Just recently, Yuille was honored and cited by her peers at Provident’s Annual Employee Meeting held on November 9, 2004. She was awarded with the Peter M. Martin Community Involvement Award for her volunteer work with such notable organizations as Operation HOPE, Urban Financial Services Coalition, Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore, The Academy of Finance and Sandtown Habitat for Humanity.
